Jewish Education in Casablanca, Morocco
Tracing their origins to the destruction of the second temple and the expulsion from Spain in 1492, Jews have lived and prospered in Morocco for over 2000 years.  In 1956, the Jewish community of Morocco numbered about In 250,000 but today there are approximately 6,000 Jews in the country, with the vast majority living in Casablanca.

1992 most of the Jewish schools were closed.  Today, only the schools located in Casablanca are operational.  Yaldeinu has provided direct funding for the Ittihad Maroc - (Oeuvre Scolaire de l'Alliance Israelite Universelle) so that needy children whose parents cannot afford the cost of tuition can continue with their Jewish education.  For Yaldeinu, the connection to this school is quite significant at its namesake, Marcos Soberano Z.L. once taught there.
