RAGEN HELPS MARK INAUGURAL EVENT FOR YALDEINU
Jewish Tribune.  June 11, 2009..

Acclaimed author Naomi Ragen spoke at the Sephardic Kehila Centre recently to a crowd of rapt and appreciative women. The evening marked the inaugural event for Yaldeinu, a charity established to provide Jewish education and camping experiences to children in third world countries and Sderot. Founder and executive director Michael Ettedgui said in his introductory remarks, “For many of these children, a life running to safety is the only life they know.”

YALDEINU RAISES FUNDS TO SEND BOLIVIANS TO CANADIAN CAMPS

Yaldeinu is planning to raise funds to bring Bolivian children to Canada for three weeks at a Jewish summer camp… Ettedgui is also working with Hillel to help launch Morrow’s Voice, a student journal that will be distributed on university campuses across the country… Ettedgui said he is also working with Hillel to organize a summer program that would bring a group of four students to La Paz to do volunteer work.

Sderot, El Salvador teens relax at Camp Gesher

These teenagers from Sderot, along with four girls from El Salvador, were brought to Camp Gesher this year by Yaldeinu, an organization that is dedicated to preserving Judaic values through formal and informal education.

Yaldeinu is all about the kids, founder says
Jewish Tribune. August 1, 2008. 

In less than a month, Yaldeinu's more informal side will gear up in Ontario, when children will arrive for a three-week stay at Camp Gesher, which is part of the Habonim Dror movement. While 4 of the the 10 visitors live in El Salvador, the rest call Sderot home, currently hard-hit by Qassam rocket attacks from the Gaza strip. The program is in cooperation with One Family Fund Canada and the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem.

Michael Ettedgui has founded an organization to support formal and informal Jewish education in a variety of countries, beginning with Bolivia, Colombia and Uruguay. He is also investigating needs in other Latin American countries, the Caribbean and sub-Saharan Africa.
